Reflection:

Teaching will always present daily challenges that requires problem-solving, creative thinking and adaptability. It provides intellectual stimulation and growth that has a positive impact on society. Not only do I feel fulfilled by working hard on building onto learner's knowledge, but I'm constantly learning new ways to get the content across to the learners in the best possible way that makes sense and helps them to reach their full potential. When we were asked to conduct an online lesson to the learners I was anxious and concerned about how everything would operate compared to teaching face-to-face. Little did I know that online teaching came with it's own unique challenges, such as: network connections, trying to work around possible power interruptions, getting the online platforms to work, to share the screen and ensuring that all learners are able to log in and have access to all resources. One major concern was not being able to see the learner's understanding based on their facial expressions or body language and that you can't always trust that the learners aren't doing something else when they should be focusing during the lesson.

Identifying the right online tool that would best suite my lesson and provide the best learning opportunity that was free and user friendly. Learning how to operate the blackboard collaborate platform was a bit challenging until it became more familiar. At first everything was overwhelming until I got used to manage every aspect to the best of my ability. Doing online lessons does have it's perks too. The online tool that I chose, quizzez.com, was quite a fun and engaging tool to use that shows the teacher who answered what correctly, the pace in which everyone answers and allows for students to try again if they get an answer incorrect to learn from their mistakes. It was age appropriate and allowed for them to actively participate and engage with the content they learned about. They really enjoyed answering the questions.

When reflecting on my lesson and taking into consideration the feedback on my lesson, I have realised that I need to make my PowerPoint slides more eye-catching and colourful to ensure that I fully capture the learner's attention and to add more pictures too. However, the lesson was a success and everyone learnt a thing or two. Teaching online isn't entirely as scary as I thought it would have been and it has definitely prepared me for online teaching when and if I were to ever teach abroad or make use of online platforms or tools to expand their knowledge. This experience has ensured that I feel more comfortable with online platforms, tools and most of all, knowing how to operate my laptop better than before.

Overall, I am more confident in teaching online and will do my best to provide learners with only the best education as possible with the use of technology, creative thinking and problem-solving.

You lesson was creative and exiting. Well done! I loved your game that relates to the story you have read to the class. Your reflection covers all the aspects of your lesson, the positive and negative (improvable areas). You are and will be an amazing teacher as you will be able to learn and improve on the lessons as you grow as a teacher.

Well done, Casey! Your lesson on how people lived long time ago went well. You were able to capture all of your learner's attention and the use of your online tool that you used to assess your learners was unique and amazing. You were able to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses and you were able to acknowledge your mistakes and learn from it.
